Tuesday Thoughts
Good Tuesday Morning All,
I’ve written many times about how quickly today modern society is changing around us. Things are moving so fast it’s often difficult to keep up. In fact our world is so different today that many so-called “wise proverbs” from our recent past are completely obsolete. For instance;
If you said to a young person today, “A penny for your thoughts”, they would laugh at you because everyone knows you can’t buy anything for a penny. This would also go for the phrase, “Putting your 2 cents in.” Believe me, no one is going to let you through the door for 2 cents. How about the saying, “A penny saved is a penny earned”? With gold prices going up $20 a day and the cost of gasoline rising by the hour, saving a penny is an exercise in futility.
Growing up did your parents ever say to you, “Children should be seen and not heard”? Tell that to a kid today and you’ll never hear the end of it. They are both seen and heard all over the internet. And sometimes we see more of them than we want to when they end up on youtube form a friend’s iphone video.
Did someone once tell you, “The early bird catches the worm”? Well now there’s Amazon and you can get anything, anytime, anywhere. Sleep till noon, because that’s when UPS arrives with that worn all neatly packaged. But there is a similar proverb that is contradictory but still true which says, “Good luck beats early rising” when you win that bid on ebay.
I could go on forever with saying like, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” or “better late than never.” How about “Curiosity killed the cat” and “Every dog has his day”? But I’ll leave you with one more proverb that I think is still appropriate for today. When we accept every change as being good, remember this, “A wise man makes his own decisions, but an ignorant man follows public opinion.”
Our Specials today are “Ravioli (Cheese or Beef) with Beef or Veggie Meatballs, Caesar Salad, and Garlic Bread” and “Pappas Fajitas (Beef, Chicken, or Veggie) con Tada – Fajitas of your choice combined with French Fries, with Rice, and Tortillas on the side.”
Our Soups today are, “Picadillo A La Cubana” and “Creamy Tomato Basil (V).”
I’ll leave you with this proverb for your thoughts, “A son is a son till he gets him a wife, But a daughter’s a daughter the rest of your life.”
Have a Tremendous Tuesday!
Thanks,
Tada!
